Any object in nature above Absolute Temperature (-273℃) could radiates heat (electromagnetic waves) to the outside.
 
Electromagnetic waves are long or short, and waves with wavelengths ranging from 760nm to 1mm are called infrared, which cannot be seen by the human eye. The higher the temperature of an object, the more energy it radiates.
 
Infrared thermography means that infrared waves are sensed by special materials, and then the infrared waves are converted into electrical signals, and then the electrical signals are converted into image signals.

As a result, thermal imaging cameras provide clear thermal images whether it is raining, sunny or completely dark. For this reason, thermal images characterized by high contrast are ideal for video analysis.

Marine Applications:
The captain could use the thermal imaging camera to see ahead in complete darkness and clearly identify course traffic, outcrops, bridge piers, bright reefs, other vessels, and any other floating objects. Even smaller objects that cannot be detected by radar, such as floating objects, can be clearly displayed on the thermal image.

The smoke particles are much smaller than the wavelength of the fiber used in the sensor, the degree of scattering will be greatly reduced, allowing clear vision in the smoke.
